Our Programme

Wonder Works Preschool accepts children between the age of 12 months to 6 years. We offer different progammes that are tailored to their age and developmental goals. Our curriculum is designed with the interest and developmental stages of individual children at heart.

We highly value the social, emotional and academic development of your child. Therefore, at the time of your application, your child will be invited to spend a day in the classroom with the students and teachers.

Toddler

  • 12 months to 2 years old
  • Accompanied programme
  • 2 hours per session

Children ages 12-24 months are in a critical period of their educational and emotional development. They have a great sensitivity for language, spatial relationships, music, art, and language. Within the rich learning environment at Wonder Works Preschool, toddler teachers carefully construct activities and experiences that capitalize on all these developmental needs.

The main objective of our toddler programme is to provide children with experiences to support initiative, creativity, autonomy and self-esteem.

Wonder Works recognizes the need for a place where toddlers feel loved and safe so they may explore the classroom at their own pace and grow independently. Plenty of opportunities are given for exploration to develop eye-body coordination, auditory perception, and fine and gross motor skills. Wonder Works also capitalizes on children’s acute interest in sensory experiences.

Pre-Nursery

  • 2 years to 3 years old
  • Independent Programme
  • 1:5 teacher to student ratio
  • 3 hours per session

Our Pre-Nursery programme focuses in providing children with ample opportunities for language expansion and cognitive development. The more experiences children have, the richer their vocabularies and the more detailed their thinking. That is why our classrooms at Wonder Works are enriched with colorful and stimulating materials as a platform for children to reach their fullest learning potential. The prepared environment provides each child with the opportunity to explore, discover, and follow personal interests.

Learning at this stage is presented to children through a variety of sensory experiences. Young children learn by doing, and play is integral for children to explore the world and learn about themselves and others. Thematic units are developed to expose children to new concepts and expand their knowledge of the world around them with dynamic challenges for the children to develop their imagination, creativity, gross motors skills, sociability, learning to problem solve, and to relax and have fun in nature.

Our teachers introduce mathematics and language concepts, and help the children develop practical skills they need in everyday life.

Nursery

  • 3 years to 4 years old
  • Independent Programme
  • 1:8 teacher to student ratio
  • 3 hours and 45 minutes per session

Children at this stage are confident, independent and more mature. They are fascinated by the world around them and will ask lots of ‘who’, ‘what’ and ‘why’ questions. Learning is rapid, as a firm foundation has already been set in the earlier years at Wonder Works.

To capitalize on their natural curiosity, language activities are made audible and visible everywhere in the classroom.

Mathematics at this level provides a more complex understanding of numbers. Children will be provided with experiences in different combinations and properties of numbers (sets, separation, patterns, language, etc.). Children will also be exposed to mathematical language they will need in later years (more, less, longer, shorter, etc.). Activities are carefully sequenced from simple to complex so that each child will grow to love learning mathematical concepts.

We enrich this curriculum with an assortment of science concepts and cultural explorations to develop a well-rounded individual. Not forgetting to cultivate the Mandarin and Bahasa language in their weekly learning.

Kindergarten 1 and 2

  • 4 years to 6 years old
  • Independent Programme
  • 1:8 teacher to student ratio
  • 4 hours and 15 minutes per session

Our kindergarten programme recognizes that children will soon be entering elementary schools with a wide range of expectations for a child's social and academic performance. Our comprehensive curriculum places a clear emphasis on continuing development of strong language, reading and writing abilities, and mathematics skills essential for ongoing success in school and life.

Our child-centered approach ensures that children are exposed to a diverse array of learning activities and that they thrive in all areas of child development, creative thinking, complex problem solving, empathetic collaboration, curious investigation, and astute decision making.

The curriculum is designed to provide experiences that will promote competency and the successful mastery of developmental tasks through adjusting expectations, varied activities and materials and through interactions in the learning environment.

There is considerable work in reading and spoken skills in both Mandarin and English, as is creative writing. Project work and life skills are mastered in preparation for further education, and in preparation for life.
